Phaeton Publications Popular Fiction TIE Fighter: A Pocket Manual
My treatment of the Star Wars saga's Imperial TIE fighter is written as if by an Imperial propagandist. I based the tone and some of the specifics on German propaganda of the 1930s, which is perfectly in keeping with George Lucas' use of Nazi influences in the decor and dress of Star Wars' evil Empire. German aeronautical development in the late 1930's was a source of great pride for the Third Reich, and I felt that the frightening 'master race' sensibility sometimes associated with their attitudes toward their advanced aircraft suited an Imperial history of the TIE fighter. The text is written as if by a sneering Imperial officer with disdain for the ships and the freedom philosophies of the Rebel untermenschen.
